Asbestos Surveys

Asbestos has been used in over 3,600 different products, ranging from floor tiles and decorative textured coatings to pipe and vessel insulation and fire resistant boarding.

In the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) the government outlines the responsibilities to manage any potential asbestos risks. This is to ensure that any asbestos present in buildings is detected, managed and adequate investigations are carried out prior to any maintenance or refurbishments works are undertaken to prevent any possible exposure.

All asbestos surveys are undertaken by experienced surveyors holding as a minimum the BOHS P402 qualification in accordance with the HSG 264 guidance and all samples are analysed by UKAS accredited laboratories.

Management

The Management Survey is carried out for the management of asbestos in buildings. The purpose of the survey is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos-containing materials which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. We also compile a detailed report showing our findings, material, assessments and recommendations.

Refurbishment & Demolition

This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all asbestos-containing materials in the area where the refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned. SL Environmental Limited can carry out all types of survey and our surveyors are fully trained to current Government and HSE recommendations and hold at least the British Institute of Occupational Hygiene’s P402 certificate.

Bulk Samples

Bulk samples are the analysis of a specific material that concerns you. We will provide you with a certificate of analysis which will detail the result and what has been found. We collect the sample ourselves or you can deliver it to us. We provide testing for the major contaminants that could potentially be present in building materials, air, water and soil such as – Asbestos, Lead, Heavy Metals, Legionella, Anthrax and Other Bio-Hazards.
